Since I was first taught navigation in the Air Force I have been fascinated by the process of finding your way from one place to another. Even before that I loved maps. I don’t really know why. Perhaps it’s the illusion of looking down on a place and seeing it all spread out before you. Being able to see the relationship of one place to another. On top of all that maps are just simply works of art in their own right.
It came as no surprise then, that I would be equally fascinated by Sat Nav GPS units. When I was in the Air Force there were units with moving map displays but they cost 10′s if not 100′s of thousands of dollars. Now you can have a unit with more features than that for under $100 if not less in your car, boat and even your pocket.
